there doesnt seem to be much happening on the sight so i thought i would shout :o
now i have your attention, i bought a lathe 240volt motor it works fine but the on (green button)/stop reset(red button) unit has been bypassed (i assume cos its bust)so you have to plug it in to start and unplug to stop. the emergency stop button works but all that does is temp interupt the circuit cos as soon as you let it go the motor starts again.

what i would like is to hit the emergency stop button and that throw the trip so it isolates the motor till reset then start button is pressed :rolleyes:

does anybody have any knowledge they can give me on the fixing of :unsure:

If I were you I'd try and get a hold of an emergency switch where you have to rotate it to reset it (i.e turn it back on). Wire that in instead of the existing emergency stop and power buttons and you could probably use it as the on/off switch too. Was thinking along the lines of RS 259-946 in the RS catalogue
There are loads of that sort of thing on ebay too very cheap or find a place srapping a load of electrical cabinets. If there is anything like that going in the skip at work I'll keep my eyes peeled.....

thanks for the idea of the "rs switch" and for the number i looked it up on the net and on reflection i would like to keep my Estop switch, it has that retro look ;)
what i need is the unit that isolates the power as soon as i interupt the current with my Estop switch...i just dont know what they are called :unsure:
