Hi,
This is my first post. I started a Fugitive Club in the very early 90's in the pre-internet days by putting an advert in Which-Kit magazine. The "magazine" was inkjet printed on A4 paper.
I think Paul Freeman was about the 3rd member and now runs this website - much better! All the early members still know each other.
I had built a very dodgy VW engined Fug, it had 1300VW, then 1600VW and finally a flat 4 AlfaSud engine before I part exchanged it with another member for this V8. Big learning curve for me.
It was originally the yellow one with the 4 drag racer exhausts out of each side seen on this site. It then went through a "Desert Storm" phase and had a third seat above the engine for the "gunner." Google "FAV" or "Fast Attack Vehicle" for images and you will get the idea. I sold it to a mate at work in 2004 on condition I had first refusal if he ever sold it.
Well, it has just come back to me. Very emotional actually - misspent youth and so on. Tyres are soft, batteries flat, surface rust on discs, no dash (but luckily the gauges are all hanging on their correct wires - phew!). Some new dodgy wiring and plumbing but whole thing looks redeemable.
It's going to be on the road by the summer.
Off shopping now for some rolls of wire, 2 new batteries.......
Great to be working on it again.
Happy Christmas
John

Which must make me the first member and Daz the second.
Don't want to make you feel old but September 2010 will be the 20th anniversary of me buying my Fug - think that makes it about 19 years almost to the day that I have known you.
Welcome to the forum John.
cheers! Adrian.
First run of the rebuilt Fug out of the garage today:
Link to video clipLeaky water pump and soft brakes but otherwise went reasonably OK for the first run in 5 years.
