Chris - March 11, 2010 05:23 PM (GMT)
Does anyone have any good ideas where i could get some new front brake calipers or get my old ones reconditioned for my fug 2.

As they locked up at the weekend when i went out for a drive :(

Thanks

Hello mate,

Went out, first step on the brakes and i stopped ok, then the near side stayed on about 90% and the off side stayed on about 20%

I have looked at them both and they are closing but not releasing even with a clamp, the seals are shot/split and looking worse for wear, so i think its time for new or recon.

Unless you think i have missed something.

PS, I still owe you that beer on our first road trip :) this summer.

....don't worry I haven't forgotten :P

Ok, two options : Buy new ones, recon the old ones.

Pair of new front calipiers from Euro Carparts / VW Heritage or GSF will be somewhere around £80 or look on ebay, there are usually some deals on there?
Repair kits are about £30 for the pair

Personally I'd just buy new ones and replace the lines too if necessary

Hurry up the summer's coming :D
