Title: Prices

Can any one give me a rough idea and I know it will only be a guideline to how much to pay for a Fug ? Say if it was built nice nick and only had a vw motor in it nothing too fast. I went on internet search for ages could only find a few examples so I have no idea as to how much things are worth. Cheers...

I'm sure there is a mass of opinion to this, but I wouldn't imagine £2500 for a reasonably sorted, correctly registered one wouldn't be miles out. You do see them sell very cheap from time to time, but what you save you'll probably need to spend on it anyway. Doing it that way does of course give you a chance to make it exactly how you want it, but don't think any of us will ever make a profit. Mine was £650, but I wanted the race frame and there's not many, hate to imagine what it now stands me in. Infact I really don't want to imagine, I just quickly totted up the engine work, tyres, twin 40s, new brakes, clutch, alloy work etc. and can honestly say "don't do it" buy one that's done.

I'd second that - unless you have a great deal of time on your hands, one that is sorted will probably be cheaper in the long run!
I think I paid £700 or so, but the frame turned out to be badly rusted on the bottom. That alone has taken ages to correct.

I think I paid around £1150 for mine.
It is cosmetically very poor but has all the right mechanical bits which have been very recently renewed.

I did not realize there were different frames to chose from, have noticed small changes in frame head heights and angles of the tops being different. Are they changed by owners or original production changes ?

I'm happy to be corrected on this if I'm wrong, but as far as I know there were only two Fugitive2 frames, the kit car one and the race one. Fundermentally they are the same, it's just the race frame, or off road frame if you like has numerously more tubes and bracing bars. They are also made from a different steel tubing, not that this really makes any odds what so ever to most of us, including me. When new, Fug kits were pretty dear for what they were, but the off road frame was so expensive it should have put anyone off. There are, as you look through the forum a mass of mods done, mainly but not exclusively to the rear and the hoops. I feel the backs can be improved no end, but playing with the hoops is clearly a mistake, it seems to loose everything that makes it a Fug, unless you base mods on a Chenowerth.

Shame the top tubes were not a bit higher would have a better choice of seat.

Fully agree with that. I have the original lay back seats, they are re-upholstered and do look the part, thing is I'm 6'4" and although it's ok, it really is pretty tight, rolling it would cause me some real problems :( There are some nice moulded seats with just foam sections that seem to be appearing in Westfield/Dax type cars, they are a realistic option. Leg room wise, I've got the peddle box so far forward I've used a Golf master cylinder to save some room.
