Title: Seats

Anyone found some nice reasonable seats like the originals which bolt to the floor for maximum head room ?

I have just finished making a mould for a UVA type seat.
The finished item is dimensionally similar to the original but is finished on the front surface rather than the rear and has a flat rather than curved base.

I can make a few copies of these if anybody is interested. See my posting in the 'Parts For Sale' forum.

If you are looking for original style then GTMdriver's are probably the way to go. If not, you could go modern and look at seats made for super seven's and the like, there's a good choice but can be pricey :o

Silly question.I have just bought a fug with original seats which has had a new floor pan fitted so i have no clue on how they were attached. Is it straight to the floor or on a sub frame?

As far as I know they were just bolted through the floor. Mine certainly were but others may have done it differently.

The base of the original seat will bolt straight to floor but the front bit under thighs fouls on the frame tubing? What do you think?

Mine are mounted on adjustable runners, and I have seen others the same.
The seat bolts to the runners and the runners bolt through the floor.
As well as making the seat position adjustable it raises the seat from the floor a little, would this be enough so that it on longer hit the rail?

Hi,
I have mounted my seats in the same way as Paul, Seat runners bolted to the floor and seats bolted to these. The seat runners are less than 25mm thick but this is enough to allow the front of the seat to pass over the frame tube. Just for info the runners were off Ebay £12 per pair.

Oh and you're probably best of with the type without a bar joining both sides, i.e. with only one side that locks and the other side "slave" - unless you are certain the spacing is correct.
This sort of thing :
Ebay LinkAlso check the locking lever won't foul anything.
