Good to see it advertised at a price that it deserves.
Far too many cheep ones. People dont realise that they should be worth more than what tends to get asked for them and I think this holds prices down.

Have to agree with that, I want £4000 for mine, which I think is pretty reasonable, as it couldn't be built for that, labour excluded. It's going to cost me at least 4x that to get the Westfield I want, so it really doesn't seem to be a bargain on my side. I personally think the prices of the remaining legal registered Fugitives is going to creep up each year from now on.

Thanks for the comments. Ive seen many on ebay for £3-4000 which are tatty or registered as beetles. And the usual suspects that seem to be for sale every 6 months after someone's had their fill with it.
A fully restored mint example correctly registered is going to hold its value and become harder to find as time goes on. Mabey i should just hide mine in a garage for 20 years :D
I may even decide to keep it as i dont think there is another vehicle out there that even comes close to the coolness of cruising through town or down to the beach on a sunny day than a nice aircooled fugitive B)
Ill take it out for a play and get some detailed pics over the weekend.

Reckon mine will finish up at my parents for the foreseeable. Can't be bothered to use it, but can't be bothered to show masses of people over it only to find they can't afford it either. It was definatly the want to own one more than the want to have one. Might put it on Pistonheads, but p/x or swap for whatever only. That way I at least know they have something to bring to the table. If my eldest will look after it he can have it for his seventeenth, then I guess I can have the odd drive of it if it's not smashed by that evening.

price now £5000ono as ive bought another toy and need the space.
100bob - July 24, 2010 09:29 AM (GMT)
Elliot, as we're almost extreme ends of the country, could I ask that if you get a sensible enquirie, but you're just too far away you mention mine's for sale. I'm happy to do the same, although mine isn't advertsied at the minute as it's just too much trouble. Reckon I've wasted a day of my life on the phone over the last year, and I really can't see the funny side of that. Also, what have you bought?
festerbestertester - July 27, 2010 09:21 AM (GMT)
Nice machine Elliot. Where did you get the headlight units?

Car Builder Solutions and SVC (Stafford Vehicle Components) stock these, or something very similar.

Quite surprised that one this good hasnt already gone!
Fingers crossed for you mate, but if the worst comes then i might be up for a few of your bits, gimme a PM if you do end up breaking her
100bob - September 16, 2010 04:58 PM (GMT)
Does seem a shame to brake it, however it can become "needs must" I personally see it as a fair price for a lot of fun. That said mine still hasn't sold either, typical when I wanted one there were none to be had. Don't know about you, but I'm just getting offered swaps for stuff I'm really not into or getting asked questions they'd only need answers for if you wanted to build their own.
Knighty - September 18, 2010 08:32 PM (GMT)
cripes elliot, dont break it........as brutal as it sounds , I dont think your fug is worth what you have been asking for it.......at the end of the day its a weller wheeled fug with a beetle engine........aim for about £3000 and I think you will be on the money......same for you too bob......thats just an opinion and I am not trying to upset anyone!!!.....taxi for knighty :ph43r:
In reality I think i should have let mine go for £2500, then it would have sold, I had an offer for £2800 but declined it as I was hanging out for £3000......but hey, thats all behind me now...... the missus told me the other day that I'm now not allowed to sell it as my 4 year old son (joe) likes it too much and he would be mortified if the garage was empty one day...... as I can now take him out for rides, and she knows I still like it too.......so I'm beevering away on a few jobs at the moment, which is a general interior tidy-up, a bit of chequer plate here and there........I took joe to a kids party last weekend, all his mates saw him and they are now all pestering my wife for a ride every time she does the school run in the volvo!......gotta tread careful there!!!
100bob - September 19, 2010 07:20 PM (GMT)
I understand what you're saying, which is why I've put mine on pistonheads for a p/x.
I ideally want a Caterham Duratec, but I'm soon to change my personal car so will now include X5 or maybe even another 5 series.
I've had a few p/x offers, mostly odd, kit, modified Jap etc. but the only Caterham offer I've had is for mine and 7k. The Caterham was easily worth 11k, so I'd have got my money. Trouble is it was it had a Rover 1600 engine, which isn't even an option in my opinion. So as much as I don't use it, and it'd be handy if it were gone, a few grand isn't exactly life changing. So it's tucked away at my parents waiting for a p/x for something nice. It's 4k, or it sits there I'm not that fussed. There's a lot of Caterhams/Westfields and prestige coming up for sale now we're soon to be in recession, I'm sure someone will be glad of my Fug and a few quid soon enough
Elliot - November 17, 2010 08:21 PM (GMT)
Still for sale............ :(
i searched over a year to find a good fug and now nobody wants one!? If something like this had come up when i was looking for one i would have snapped it up in a second.
Does everyone just buy ford mondeos and 7 replicas now? Come on folk, grow some balls and buy a fugitive!
Elliot - February 20, 2011 11:35 PM (GMT)
bump.
Will take it out of hibernation soon and tax and mot it ready for summer!

Hi Elliot. I have been trying to contact you through PH about your Fug, but for some reason your phone safe number wont connect! I've been trying to email you through PH for the last week, too, but not heard back.
Is this still for sale. If so have you got a contact number I can get you on? Also, where abouts in Scotland are you?
Cheers
Simon
