Buyers are recomended to check that the vehicle is correctly registered. The V5 should NOT refer to a donor vehicle (e.g. VW Beetle). Incorrectly registered vehicles may require a SVA test before they can legally be used on the roads.

Further official information on the SVA test can be found here

People may (or may not!) be interested to know that the SVA test scheme has now morphed into the IVA test scheme. It is a very similar test and amateur built vehicles (classed in M1 category) are only required to meet the Basic test requirements, most of these tests are visual only.
I managed to do some digging and a copy of the 286 page ( ) test manual and all the requirements is free to download here

saving a few quid on buying an SVA manual. If they do remove it I have a copy saved too!! :D

An IVA information guide is here

Companies such as Blitzworld have SVA compliant buggies so there is little reason to believe that with a bit of thought a Fug could not go through the tests.
