Title: Fugitive / 'Rail'
Description: Wanted. Cash waiting!
Macca - November 23, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
As the title says, I am looking for a fugitive or other type of rail.
My only requirements are that it be correctly registered for the road.
I would prefer a 2 seater and I'm not bothered about any work that may be required as long as it is currently on the road and driveable.
I am located in Chester, Cheshire.
Any other info regarding suppliers of new rails and advice on the dreaded SVA regs also greatly received
Cheers,
Paul :)

just put an ad for wanting one myself, however i want a 4 seater. Anyway made enquiries about sva and they have a website. i also rang them, they're really helpful and there is a manual covering all areas. it's not that nasty but it'll cost at least £300 even if it all goes well. Personally can't be bothered to trailer one to chelmsford which is my nearest,i'd sooner buy one. Don't really want Q plate either to be honest
hope my postage stand of knowledge is of some help, BOB

bob - a Q plate is no problem, both myself and steve-T have Q plate fugs.......given the choice over a fug with a Q plate and a fug regesterred with the beetle donor plates.........I'd have the Q plate everytime.........Fuge pilot has regesterred his fug-4 by doing the SVA test.........and I dont think he'll disagree if I say it was a pain in the ass to do, as you need to shield over all the moving parts, like the whole engine bay and all the front suspension..........If I was in your shoes I'd buy a Q plate road registered fug, keep your eye on e-bay, and the kit car and Volksworld magazine classified adverts

Bob - in reply to your e-mail below
I have never personally SVA'd a kit car, but I know plenty of people who have........and all I hear is bad stories of the SVA inspectors failing cars on silly reasons......this is why I didnt get involved and bought a Q plate......OK rules are rules and SVA is the law for kit cars........SVAing a caterham 7 type thing is quite involved.........going by what fugepilot said.......it was a real slog SVAing his fug-4 .........do yourself a favour and buy a Q plated road going fug.........
the cost of free tax will soon be blown well out of the water by the cost of passing an SVA test, I have been told to bank £1000 (one thousand) just for passing SVA........there have been many dreamers who buy unfinished fugs on E-bay, only for them to realise whats involved with SVA .........and surprise-surprise they are back on e-bay within 1 month
cheers

"I know Q plates are no problem and extremly common on kits and would probably be even more common if donor parts were checked. Just i'd have liked to put a private number
plate on it not to mention a bonus of possible tax exemption.
Have been looking on ebay, first wanted one of these in late 80's and went to uva in newbury to buy their demo one but they messed me about too much so i didn't proceed. Then a little while ago someone mentioned these things so i checked a few websites and i definatly still want one."
