Bloke,

I can't help with a picture as my car has gone off to a Beetle Bloke to have a new front beam + bits fitted + rear suspension adjustment + new shocks all round + wiring up the wiper washer + fitting a vacuum distributor + sorting the engine timing & maybe.....if it is in fact a 1300, upgrading it to a 1600 + fitting the mirrors + while your at it, wiring up the horn to the steering wheel (yes, yes I know I can do that..) Basically, I've got more money than time and knowledge + he was quite keen to work on such a strange beastie.

Anyway, my seats are non-standard fug ones and bolt straight onto the flat floor plan. The is a pillar at each corner underneath. An 8mm stud protrudes from this, through the floor plan and is secured with a nut.

Hope this helps.

Steve

That some seriously big tube in the middle.

Someone has (quite nicely ) welded in some late beetle runners into yours. You will need the Beetle subframes and a lot of clearance, though which must inpeach on your head room?

I used the standard laid back seats in mine hinged at the front so i can stuff bits behind.

I think i would be inclined to cut all that out and start again. Looking in the build manual I have, 5 or 6 mm alloy flooring with slots cut in it was UVA's idea of adjustment...

thanks for the reply.

so floor off and angle grinder to cut it all out .
Then MIG weld smaller tubes between the space and bolt onto those with some slim sliders. This will drop the seat by a good few inches.

The floor is only bolted in about 8 places so it would drilling and attaching it a long job and its probably not thick enough.

But may be I should bite the bullet ? as I could get rid of the welded in steel floor
above.

Because I was worried about smacking my head on the cage, I actually dropped my seats so they now sit 2 .5 inchs below the floor. Seems ok, and if I need to I can get in and out with a crash helmet on no problem :ph43r:
