Hi Dave, I have a fugitive-4 (am I right in guessing you bought the fug-2 with fiat twin-cam lump?).......and I'm 6 foot 2" ......I have a 12" steering wheel.....most use a 10" but I found I could hardly steer the car!.....anyway, I fit in...just!.....all the seats I have seen in Fugitives all seem to be the same, they are a fibreglass mould, with a very basic vinyl cover, and to cut a long story short, they keep your ass quite close to the floor pan....only an inch or so.....which is just what you want......I'm guessing the seats you have are too pumped up with seat lining in the ass area......either have them "de-pumped" or start looking for some new seats.....you will probably find some on e-bay.......you may also want to check those available from the main go-kart seat manufacturer called "tillet" do a web search and you will find them......also check out all the kit car manufacturers who make caterham 7 style cars, do a web search for:-

locost, luego, westfield, dax, MK, stuart taylor

as they are also very low seats.....hope this helps

THANKS FOR THE REPLY,I AM THINKING ABOUT ALTERING THE SCREEN AREA,MOVING IT FORWARD AND UP AT THE TOP AND RAISING THE STEERING COLUMN A COUPLE OF INCHES.I VE PLATED THE FRONT OF THE FLOOR ACROSS WHERE THE PEDDLES ARE MOUNTED AND PLATED AHEAD OF THAT AND MOUNTED THE BATTERY AND PETROL TANK(NOT THE ORIGINAL BUT A 5 GALLON TANK)THE IDEA NOW IS TO BUILD A FIRE WALL TO SEPERATE THIS LOT FROM YOURS TRUELY.KEEPS ME BUSY ON COLD NIGHTS!!!! Hi Dave... I too am busy referbing a Fug and want to change my seats as the originals dont fit in the mordernisation plan.

After checking in "kit Car" mag, doing some measurements, I have narrowed it down to a pair of COBRA Roadster 7 seats. They are designed for the super seven stylie cars (strangly enough  )

They have a narrow and thin squab so should sit low in the car......good job too as, like Knighty, i,m 6'2" and am not to keen on bangin' my head!!!!!!
They cost about £150 each but you will need a set of runners (another £25 each)

When I have some spare money I'll be treating "Eddie" my Fug to a set.
I'll let you know how they go if you don't beat me to it! :D

Hope that helps, have fun during those cold nights!!

Hi Dave,

I'm only 6' and a 1/2" - got a fug-4 with a 'Huntmaster' driving-seat; works
well for me (10" steering wheel). Tail about 2" off floor with slidability - probably gain another inch if removed runners and fixed directly to floor.

I had this problem too with my UVA fibreglass seats (even with a 10" wheel) and I was thinking about putting cushions on the floor and rear bulkhead the way Ron Champion suggests in his book 'Build a sports car for £250' (it's a Seven-esque scratch build book if anyone doesn't know). It looks quite neat in his photos.

Anyone any reaction to this (or even tried it?)

David

yes very nice but what about some Poly seats do you know any one who stocks them in the uk.

Alloy or plastic looks like the way to go in terms of weight

what about other seats like MG tf etc

Bug pack supply the seat shell still I believe and big boys toy can import anything in the catlogue

Demon Tweeks do a range of alloy seats.

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk

They don't seem to be on the website but are in their motorsport catalog which you can get for a nominal price.

It's worth ordering the motorsport catalog just for the read! 363 glossy pages of things that you just need. Not want - need.

The performance catalog's a bit 'Pimp My Ride' and the motorcycle one is cool if you like that sort of thing but the motorsport one is the one to get. Unless you can afford all three!
