Title: Stoneleigh 2007 - 6th and 7th May
Description: Who's interested?

Paul - October 30, 2006 08:28 PM (GMT)
Who's up for attending this show in 2007 ?

How many of those are likely to make it in a Fug ?

If there's enough interest I'll contact the organisers (Thanks Tigger for the details) to get a forum area allocated.

Edit : Show date is 6th/7th May 2007 (Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday)

gareth - October 30, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)

if i'm right that's the same weekend as big bang?

if so my original plan was to roll to big bang thurs night for as little light drag racing on the friday/sat morning and then drive over to stoneleigh on the sat pm or sun depending on what days the stoneleigh show is held on B)

would be hoping to have the fuge ready in time of course but would need to confirm this for sure nearer the time ;)

yup - deffo interested in stoneleigh and finally meeting everyone........will be in my fug - but I will say this now - I'm not sure of the standard required at these shows - as the paint job on my fug certainly aint "show quality" its a bit faded........my fug is for driving - not showing!......if you think thats OK put my fug on the list too :D

Paul - October 31, 2006 10:01 AM (GMT)

The "club" areas are mainly marked up areas on the grass.

Standard goes from "how did they drive that here!" upwards so I wouldn't worry about the standard of the cars too much!

Take a peek at the (1998!) Newark Show pictures on the main site for an idea of what we sort of Fugs we used to be able to get to shows.

gareth - October 31, 2006 02:31 PM (GMT)

what dates is the stoneleigh show?

big bang is the 28th- 29th april next year and i wanna start planning!!! :D

Bin 'jammin' - October 31, 2006 04:34 PM (GMT)
I'll be at Big Bang if it's the same weekend

Chicken - October 31, 2006 04:44 PM (GMT)
I`m normally at big bang too, tempted to do stoneleigh for a change but big bang is the first festi of the year, AND theres no dance tent at stoneleigh

Bin 'jammin' - October 31, 2006 05:02 PM (GMT)
And it's BIG BANG, and stuff

Drag racing

Drunkeness

Frivollity

And stuff B)

Tigger - October 31, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
Stoneleigh is usually over the May Day weekend and is all 3 days so take your pick and turn up!! Having done Big Bang, the first one onwards all I wanted was to get away from that dance tent, because it detracted from the racing etc, but maybe I'm getting old, or the orgainisors too greedy...dunno <_<

I've been to The Kit Car Show couple of times now, this year the first in the Fug and it was definitly worth it....cold mind :( However, there was me and the Dutch guy who had (at the time ) just bought that blue Rover powered F33 off ebay. I couldn't get near mine all day for people looking at it.

So, a line up of Fugitives of the like as not seen for quite a while would be well worth making the effort for I reckon B) B)

Come on boys lets make an effort here :P

caloun - October 31, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
nope count me out

things were going so well until they said "we need you to go to Ireland to work on a contract for 6 months" arh .

I have an engine and gearbox and electrics sorted :(

may be I will be able to sort something some how

never say never

Knighty - October 31, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
even before this post was started - I think the plan was always to do Stoneleigh in 2007 - Im with Tiggar on this one - lets do it.

gareth - November 1, 2006 12:44 AM (GMT)

big bang has been purposefully brought forward a week for 2007 to avoid the bank holiday apparently..... :D :D :D

i think we're on gentlemen B) ;)

Bin 'jammin' - November 1, 2006 10:55 AM (GMT)
In that case.............Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaaaaauser posted image

Knighty - November 1, 2006 12:42 PM (GMT)
have just reserved 6th & 7th May with Mrs Knight .......yeeeeeeehhhhhhhaaaaaaaawwwwwhhhhhh.........by then she will have the new bathroom...........so as far as I'm concerned thats my licence to start wasting lots of time and money on my fug-4.......a set of adjustable rear spring plates, adjustable dampers and a pair headlamps, MOT, Tax and insurance should all make a nice dent in the Knight bank account........but thats what its all for innit B) B) B) B)

fugieian - November 1, 2006 01:04 PM (GMT)
COUNT ME IN ,BEEN THERE WITH MY FUGIE IN 2005,THERE WAS A STAND THERE MARKED UVA FUGITIVE OWNERS CLUB,-NO OTHER CARS CAME- LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL NEXT YEAR,BE GOOD TO MEET LIKE MINDED FOLK.

gareth - November 1, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)

i'd better get my arse back down the shed then..... :D :D

*gar leaves to the sound of the mission impossible theme* :D ;)

Chicken - November 1, 2006 08:26 PM (GMT)
Thats settled then, Stoneleigh next year it is then :D

fugs still working and still being driven, in the process of selling both 4x4s so I will only have the fug and a bike to work on. Just got to remember not to strip it down too much this winter and then fail to get it working for spring

Tigger - November 1, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)
Nice one guys

...lets make it one they're remember :D

steve_vfr - November 1, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
Unless something REALLY bad happens to my Fug, I'll be there :D

Steve

100bob - November 9, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
At the risk of sounding slightly dim, what and where is Stonleigh. I realise it's a car show type thing, but when putting it in a route finder there's several Stonleighs. :(

100bob - November 9, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
And no there's not several because I forgot the 'e' there were several even with it in.

steve_vfr - November 9, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)

100bob - November 10, 2006 09:15 AM (GMT)
It does, but it also tells me I'm not doing a 160 mile journey likely to take over 3 hours in a Fug. I may like these things, but not that much. ;) If I can though I wouldn't mind a drive up if something did get organised.

Bin 'jammin' - November 10, 2006 11:03 AM (GMT)

Where are you based then 100Bob?

Tigger - November 10, 2006 12:47 PM (GMT)
THE kit car show of the year

National Agricultural showground / Centre

Leamington Spa

Go thru Leamington Spa.. and head for Coventry on the B4113 you won't miss it :P

100bob - November 10, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
I'm in (Sunny) Clacton-on-Sea,Essex. It's the place that everyone makes fun of,but when anyone moves here they never want to leave. Unfortunately it's also the end of the world regarding being able to buy things that don't come from B&Q or Tesco's. <_<
Not exactly much of a kit car movement down here either,it's all Novas,Corsas,BMWs lowering kits and neon lights. Kids need to discover real engines. :D The only good thing about getting old is cheap car insurance, make the most of it. B)

SteveEmbo - December 1, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
I will make it in the rebuilt Camo Fug, it is now nealy rebuilt and is flame red. the rough camo look has gone. We should reserve an area. Last year there was a yellow alfa powered Fug there. the year before I was there as well. that was a showing of 2 cars but both in different places on the day shame. This looks like the most intrest on the site for a while. Lets hope it turns out. PS are there any Fugs in the midlands I am near Leicester.

steve_vfr - December 1, 2006 10:52 PM (GMT)
Steve!

Pics! Please post some pics!

As soon as I get a garage built or the weather gets better I'll finish mine (well get it going) and have to pop up to Lecs to say hi.
I have some mates there that I catch up with quite often.

My Fug has a way to go but I intend to get it on the road early next year.

Please post a pic of yours.

Steve (in North Herts)

Knighty - December 2, 2006 05:33 PM (GMT)
Mr Embo! - good to hear from you again - will look forward to meeting and the renovated fug at stoneleigh - I think someone is reserving a spot for all the fugs.......Tiggar - were you doing this?

Hi All,

I've mailed the organisers of the Stoneleigh show today to see if they still allocate "club" areas.

A quick summary taken from this thread of interested people follows - if you can confirm/bail out in a reply on this thread or by PM then I'll use this to make sure we've enough people to warrant the club area.

Edited : See further down thread for updated list

More details on the show itself here on the organiser's site.

Tigger - February 12, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
I'll be there...in the beast :P

Paul - February 12, 2007 11:46 PM (GMT)
OK, got a reply from the organisers and a form should be on it's way to me tomorrow to book a club stand for us.

Knighty :
The bike's in one bit now, but running like crap. It's booked in to get a good going over by a place near work next week. Now have a new crash helmet without the big scratches up the side so can use it again.
The Fugitive is still without engine, no space in my garage to work on it and the mates who used to work on it seem to have got married, bred and filled their garages up with immovable crap! That coupled with my skill level and a recent illness and bereavement in the family means not a lot's happened. Discussions are afoot to get the damn thing back on the road where it belongs ... watch this space ;)
