Title: Where are all the F33 Fugitives?
Description: How many cars are out there?
SteveEmbo - February 7, 2005 11:23 AM (GMT)
I would love to understand how many cars were made and where are they?
I always wanted a Fugitive II back in in the old days.
The ultimate was the F33 well out on my legue then, but now we will see.
I saw on advertised a year ago in nottingham which had had its roof bars sawn down to fit in a lambo kit body but the guy that did it hadn't realised thet the wheel base was not the same. should have bought it, but it probablly would have had no body panels.
Final question. does any one have the Street machine artical on the Fugitive II road car?
Thanks

I've only ever seen one F33 and that was a black one at one of the UK Kit Car shows over 3 years ago. Will have to see if I can dig the photos out. It was up for sale at the time but for a pretty hefty price if I remember correctly.
If anyone does have the the article Steve's after or any others relating to Fugitives I'd be interested in a copy as well so I can add them to the main site at
www.fugitives.co.uk

I recently bought a 1987 street machine mag from ebay, there is a 5 page article on the F33, 265 Bhp Rover V8 on a beefed up IRS bug transmission.....I shall scan & post the pics some time this week......I too think the F33's are wicked......but I must admit they do look very wierd from certain angles......that lambo F33 was actually a fug-2, as I was gonna buy it....untill i saw the pictures!.....what a 5hit heap......he was trying to tell me it was the prototype F33......the F33's were based on the fug-4....not the fug-2!......the cheapest I have seen an F33 is for about 10K.....personally I would rather have a fug-4, no way are F33's worth 10K of my cash!
I spoke to the owner of the original red UVA F33 demo car, and he said the VW gearbox was nothing but grief, it could not handle the pounding from the tuned rover V8.....he sold it to a french bloke and it now lives in france.......the best gearbox is the Porsche item from the 928, as used in the ultimas and later UVA F33's......built to handle proper V8 torque

Thanks Guy's. I will look forward to the street machine article, I am sure that someone on this site said there was a Fugitive II featured.
I am a bit of a info junky and like to see lots to help me in tidying my car.
it is intresting to see them appear on e bay in various states.
Does any one have any opinion on screen configurations. mine has none. A full screen on the f33 looks nice but as soon as a wiper is added it looks not so good.
Is the a good hight for a screen and will normal Laminated glass from the local glass supplier do (6.7mm I think)?
Knighty - February 7, 2005 03:12 PM (GMT)
Do a search under "street machine" on ebay, there are many for sale.....there was a fug-2 featured one on there a while ago, but I didnt but it.....you will get one sooner or later. the F33 screen is OK but not brill in my opinion, as it covers the chassis rails......my mag only covers the F33
I too am sorting a screen for my fug, basically I dont want to drill into the tubes, and I want all th tubes exposed......I noticed on Toms car in germany that he used "P-clips" once I have sourced some 38mm (1.5 inch) ID P-clips, I shall get some purspex (not glass) and make a simple screen, as the blast from the wind is quite unplesant!.......my car did have a glass screen but I think the previous owner used a ton of body filler and fibreglass matting to secure it in plece......it looked horriffic/geeky......
my intention is to cut a screen to size that fits perfectly within the square created by the chassis rails, all held in place by about 9 P-clips (3 per tube)......nice and simple and lightweight, and could be removed easily on a summers day/MOT!......It will be finished in a few weeks, I shall post pics when done.......now stop crusing the net and do some work you slacker!

Hi Chaps,
about time I muddied that waters on this one...a few points in no particular order...
1. I have only ever seen one F33, was at Stoneleigh a couple of years back, white one unfinished, mid mounted small block chevy hanging off a Porsche 911 transaxle, only problem with it seemed to be that the engine encrouched somewhat on the cockpit space, to the point where the belts would have been machining their own clearance through the drivers seat, drivers jacket, skin, shoulder blade, soft tissue etc:- Was for sale, might have some photos somewhere will try to locate, scan etc:-
2. Paul - you might be able to help on this one - didn't Daz have a hand in building one a while back - may have been an engineered Fug 4, that had the roof bars cut down, a mid mounted Rover V8 and "rounded" bodywork over the front... got pictures of it somewhere...will try to dig out and post. Paul BTW doesn't Daz have internet access...just that he would be a useful asset to the forum.
3. Magazine articles, got 2 old Which Kit ones on the F33, one where (I think) Monty Watkins road tested the original UVA Demo machine, drove it through Hungerford just before the place got shot up...also got a piece on Bob Light's race F33 that he used to win everything in the Kit car race series a while back before going on to do the same in an Ultima - think he might be behind the B6(?) Stealth car from a couple of years back. Come to that also got the original Which Kit article on the Demo Fug 4...will try to get them scanned and emailed to Paul for the website.
cheers! Adrian.

I'm considering offering my fiancee for sexual favours if you can post scans of the fug-4 articles on this site/forum ;) ......but there again I'm not too sure shee will agree to this, so it will prob be only just a pint of best :( ......I'm currently pestering ebayers for street machine mags which feature fugs......one guy has for sale all the 1980 mags, so he might have something......yes, Daz sounds like a good fugger for want of better words!

I found this pic from a for-sale ad on the new about 8 months ago.....might be of interest.....

I've updated the F33 page on the site again. (Thanks for the Street Machine scans Knighty, I've added them to the main site, as well as the new picture you posted)
The one new picture I found on my hard drive is also shown below - not the greatest but worth adding as the F33's seem to be in demand at the mo!

Sods law - as soon as I posted the last post I found another couple of pictures.
They were already on the site but were skulking around in the 1998 Show reviews so may not get found much. Have now linked these into the F33 page on
www.fugitives.co.uk as well as sticking them here.

Details of this car were :
Fitted with a 3.8 litre V8 putting out 320bhp and converted from a circuit racer back to a road car. £11,750

Paul
This F33 was in "for sale" at the Fugitive home page many months ago and in ebay. I think reserved price not met! I asked seller a question (technical, not to buy) but no response and wrote him an e-mail, no answer, too. If you look at the rear suspension you'll see parts of the trailing arms are being quite different from the stock Volkswagen versions. If somebody has, any information would be great!!! :)
