Title: F33
Agent Orange - November 28, 2006 11:14 AM (GMT)
Morning,
As I understand it the F33 was basically a Fug2 with modified suspension. Has anyone tried F33 body panels on a Fug2 or made copies to put on their Fug2? Can anyone see any issues with doing this or did the F33 have a modified frame for mounting the side panels etc.?
Does anyone have photos of the bare F33 chassis?
Cheers

nope - the F33 was based on the fug-4 - they will not fit - if you want something along similar lines your better off making the moulds yourself - but its a mucho work .........you need to make a precise well finished male buck - I mean to boat building standards - take female splash moulds then take male moulds form the female..........very very messy - yuk

Ok plan was to make own anyway if we do it but was curious as to how the mounting of the body panels was acheived on the F33 as the side pods seem to extend a long way from the frame and I'm guess there is additional frame supports above and beyond the standard Fug 4.
How many pieces did the F33 body panels come in? 3? Nose cone plus 2 side pods and rear arches?
Thinking out loud here as we had an idea to make something along the lines of an F33 from our Fug 2s. Not a copy of an F33 just similar idea.
Any photos people have of the body panels and bare F33 frame would be much appreciated. :)

look in the "the cars" section of the main fugitives site and you will find all you need to know about the F33 - quite a bit of info has been collected and posted on there over the past year or so........
speaking from personal experience with my single seater, and having tinkered with the odd clam shell race car or two....... what you will need to do is rivet an ali floor with about 3 inches of extra material protruding around the perimiter of the base floor area........get yourself some weather proof 3/8" ply board and bolt it on top of the ali 3" lip........to create side pod flooring that extends to the edges of the bodywork, you then attatch triangulated rigid M5/M6 rose jointed adjustable tie bars from the chassis top rails to the edges of the floor pan to stop it flapping about - about 3 per side is OK - then the fibreglass body attatches to the outer edges of the floor pan, and the chassis top rails via dzus fastners.......its scaring me just thinking about it - its gonna be a LOT of work dude.......I'd rather have wind up my trouser leg via going the bare "streetfighter" look!

The bare rail look was always our plan but one of the rails we will be driving from Calais to Rimini in Italy via, Bern and Innsbruck September next year.
Suddenly with mountain driving and the unexpected weather that can bring bodywork now looks very tempting!
This year the route drove through Monaco and the Med coast - typical!
We could do Fug bodywork but we thought why not go the whole hog and do something a bit special. I am beginning to see why everyone else on the rally just buys a knackered saloon!

I've been having several brain waves through out the day about our body work and stuff, believe me it's all cool very B)
No need for old bits of ply, this is gonna be done properly, ooh i can't wait to get stuck in and get creative ;) that's the beauty of having Two independant fiberglass and composite guys as buddies either side of my unit :D
Metal out riggers and boxed sections with integral rubber padded mounts mmm B)
Also going to make use of some carbon fibre and titanium that i've got lying around B) because we can
I'm a little excited, can you tell?

[wankmode on] carbon fibre and titanium.........[wankmode off]
yeah, thats the stuff B) are you going/trying to make the body work of it ?
with that idea, you can also make the coolest fug2. with carbon body and seats.
and some easier to make the mouldings..
can you say that again?
