Due to the high level of spamming at the moment I've turned new user authentication on. I'm currently deleting multiple users every day and some of the spam they are posting is "of questionable taste" :P

For new users trying to register this unfortunately means a short delay before your account is authenticated and you can post. Generally you should be authorised the same day.

There is a very small risk that a registration may be accidentally declined if your email address or member name matches those frequently used by spammers. If you haven't been approved within a day or so please email me (Paul) using the "Contact us" details on www.fugitives.co.uk

Due to the continuing rise in spam registrations (15 attempted today alone) I've had to block new member registrations from certain email domains.

If you attempt to register and get an error of "you do not have permission to use this forum" or similar please contact me using the info in the post above and I can add you manually.

The spam registrations got worse again, so the authentication has been running for the last month or so.

The most prolific provider for spam sign ups is AOL. Something approaching 95% of the spam sign-ups come via an AOL email account.
