Title: Germany
Description: we have a cunning plan.......

gareth - January 2, 2007 09:45 PM (GMT)
ok! first off, not a fugitive trip but i thought some of you guys (of the VW persuasion) may be interested in a little trip we are in the early stages of planning from farm HQ B)

i've always wanted to do the nurburgring and have decided that this is the year to do it since i'll be buying a mk2 golf GTi soon and, well, it would be rude not to really! ;)

coincidentally my mate is in the process of building a '53 barndoor van to go to Bad Camberg, a fest for pre '57 dubs held once every 4 years........so we thought hell!! why not combine the two and roll into germany together and make a week of it :D

then we thought "Wolfsburg VW Museum!" so we're planning to take that in too B)

and we've roped in another mate to hopefully build a '55 panel van to roll with us and possibly an early oval bug too. :o

Bad Camberg is 22-24 june and we are in the very early stages of planning this (a lot depends on the 'ring calendar which isn't released until feb  ) but if anyone else is interested it should make for a good trip :D

and i'll need some help to smuggle this back.......

Did Wolfsburg a couple of years back with our VW club, tour round the factory, 2 days around the Autostrada park....very interesting, but better is just down the road at Diesel Strasse (not sure on the spelling) all the VW's that are not nice enough for the main museum...old Paris Dakar racers, Beetle road trains, all sorts of wierd stuff - absolutley fantastic - you can get a good meal in the Autostrada as well, band plays there, really cool and atmospheric, stayed in a hotel just over from the main factory entrance - superb place, great food and the beer was fab. Only downside is that Wolfsburg is a fookin long way east!

But yeah do it - worth the journey

cheers! Adrian.

gareth - January 4, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)

thanks for the tip ade, we'll definately look into that B) ;)

gareth - January 5, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)

ps ade! what vw club you in? B)

sounds like a good one if you arranged a trip to wolfsburg ;)

Le Mans Man - January 13, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
Hampshire VW Owners Club....(www.hvwoc.co.uk) - on the comitee of the club, but didn't do anything regarding organising that trip (probably why it was so good!) we filled a coach of 50 people no worries - there is talk of us doing ti again later this year...we shall see...cheers! Adrian.

Yeah they're a good bunch of Lads, i think they've all retired now but have been into Vdub's since before we were born.

They get to most of the show's too. B)

One of them does the Judson Register (John Moxon) which is nice.

Bin 'jammin' - January 30, 2007 10:58 AM (GMT)
Well it gives me an amount of horror when i hear about things like that, but then i think about the fact it is only metal and as long as it's alive, it can always be put back to original at some point. ;)

So what progress have you made dude, apart from joining the bajaclub forum   :ph43r:

nothing at all on the fuge yet :(

all my garage time has been spent on the polo due to the fact that it's my daily driver and has had a few issues since bein put back on the road after 4 years in various garages  ;)

so far we've had 2 trips to the hard shoulder (loss of alternator belt and a carb prob) i've had to rebuild the carb and fabricate a new alernator tensioner as a result :P

also had a couple of exhaust probs etc etc but it seems to be running sweet now so once the paint is finished and it's been hit with the lowering stick i can turn my attention to the fuge and the bay..... :ph43r:

how about you guys? any progress to report?

Weeeell we've made a few modifications to the orange Fudge 2 but we're not ready to show them and apparently we've aquired another Beetle!

So thats 9 Bus restorations, 3 Fudges and 2 Bajas to make with one man doing the work and one man making the teas.
