hi mate - whats the chances of seeing some pics of your fug-4?......if your interested I have some side rails that I have removed from my fug-4 that I dont intend to use any longer.........I havent a clue about the chassis numbers

Chassis Numbers - that's the thing that I stamped on to my chassis when I was having the DVLA inspect it right...? Had to be done on the hurry up so I could get the Beetle number off the V5 and have the UVA one on it so I could avoid SVA - the Fug had been on the road then for the best part of 10 years but I wanted to avoid and SVA hassle just in case!
cheers! Adrian.

Hi wurthy2000,
Found mine while stripping chassis. A foot or so forward along the chassis-member from the bottom of windshield (passenger side). Got in touch with one of the UVA Directors, hoping he may have some old ledger with my no. in it  . No cigar all he could offer me was some adapter plates. That's all I know one chassis nos. except that they start with UVA......
r.f. the uva hydraulic peddle sets -I don't suppose you still have them??

fugepilot,
How long ago was the call about the adaptor plate?
If recent(ish) any idea what they have still ?
Cheers
Paul.

Paul - it was about two years ago. I have his contact data amongst my SVA stuff.
As I remember Rover and Fiat were mentioned - I think
I will dig it out soon - definately by this weekend, as I'm planning to put a bit of a
report togeather; as to how I squeezed her through the eye of the needle.
It may help others looking towards SVA. At least I get to show off her more
interesting bits. :D
Will Post contact data soon!

Paul - found it after a long rifle. Brings it all back...that heady dream of tax
exemption, the epic battle so nearly won; bumped up two DVLA floors for
a decision even. Anyway, a £50 skermish in said struggle got me the UVA
file. Felt a bit cheeky phoning, but a desperate man can be very bold.
I will email rather than post - hope he's still in the same house.

what was the name of the ex UVA director that you contacted????......what town is he in????
Knighty - April 12, 2005 01:48 PM (GMT)
Paul - when you speak to Terrence Lee, please ask him the following questions for me:-
1) What happened to tooling for the fug-4 fibre-glass body panels?
2) What happened to the tooling for producing the fug-4 tube-frame chassis?
3) Were any Engineering drawings ever done/still available?
I'm assuming this Terrence Lee bloke may possibly be the "laser cars" man????
cheers
Stephen

Hi
Recently bourght a Fugitive2 rolling chassis, requires alot of work to get it back but I need a long term project. After cutting off the old brackets somebody has welded on I have found the chassis no. stamped onto the top rail just in front of the front roll cage joint. It is UVA 01. Can anybody confirm that it could be the first production chassis, I have asked a few people in the know and they think it could be. If so I will bring it back to its former glory and not thrash it around a scorr track.

Does sound likely.
I may get shouted at for saying this but my opinion would be thrash it round a scorr track if you want - after all it's what they are supposed to be for!
............dives for cover............

Thrash the pants off it! Being the first it deserves extra hard spanking. :ph43r:
Seems to be stamped in the right place - given my no is UVA 08914286 there
should be another 9 million plus out there!
