Hi All....had my fug-4 MOT'd for the first time (in my posession) it failed on handbrake and emissions (the CO was 4.5-4.8.....should be less than 3.5)......so I soon found out that as the front/rear break bias was all wrong, the rear disks were hardly bedded in....so with a bit of playing with the balance bar between the two master cylinders......took it out for a blast, and the rear disks are now nioce and shiney - job done.
next are the emissions......I have a mobile tuner come around to the house, and plays with the main jet screw, and within 20 minutes its now well unde 3.5 CO .......so I go back for the MOT re-test, handbrake is still not brilliant, but they passed it........but this is the best bit......"coz its a Q plate mate, it dont need to pass emissions"......at the time I was justthinking give me the MOT certificate.....which they did.....then I buggered off full of joy.......but the more I think about it, the more it pi55es me off  that i took time off work and paid the emissions bloke......then the MOT testers casually tell me that emissions didnt actually matter......have come to the conclusion that I'm gonna phone them on monday and sort out a deal......fu&*ing stupid grease monkeys!!!!!
On another note, as my gear stick is quite a long reach away from the driving position, I mought a Empi/Hurst gear lever from Big Boys Toys near lakeside.....the lever is bent so I can reach it much easier and the pivot point is changed, so each gear throw is much shorter......man, what a difference :D :D :D ......my fug is now totally different to drive!!!! B) .....I think possibly the best £44 ever spent on the fug so far  .......they come highly reccomended
Congratulations :D on getting MOT!
mmm.. discs all round - nice! Been lusting after rear discs for a while.
Was wondering where you got yours?
Also, I have to say - that's some exhaust system you have there.
Spoke to the manager at the MOT station yesterday, and he assured me that for cars registerred between 1985 and 1992, the CO reading needs to be below 3.5.......so thankfully I did not waste my money.......yup disks all round......with a twin master cylinder bias thingy on the pedals.......stops quite well, but the nose currently dives so much under hard braking, that the fronts lock up, I basically need to stiffen up the front suspension by adding a load more bump stops.
I can assure you that the exhaust is one of the worst parts of the car, I spent last weekend trying to make it quiter.....placed a baffle and two stainless steel scouring pads down each of the two tail pipes,......and its still deafening to drive......the 1.5 twin-carb alfa sud engine is a great motor......but due to the crap exhaust, it is not performing as it should......am in the process of souring a nice 4-2-1 system, which will make it quiter and pull harder in the mid range
