Title: 2L fiat twin cam +entire rear end
Description: I'm changing engine and rear end

steve_vfr - August 31, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)
Is anyone interested in an engine, radiator, adaptor plate, gearbox, rear suspension, wheels etc.
I think they are 110 or 120 bhp.
I've decided to go for it and put in a Peugeot engine, so I'm cutting off the whole rear end and going on a mission.
I'd rather it went to another Fug so I'd rather sell it here than Ebay if I can.
Engine runs fine, has electronic ignition. Doesn't burn oil.
I have a video of it being revved up or if you can get here quick you can see it running.
I have 2 different exhausts for it and some massive wheels (295X15 tires on them) that I'm not going to need.

Give me a shout if you're interested.

I'd be interested, although it wouldn't be for the fugitive it would be for my VW 181?

Email me and we can talk B)

Hi Guys,

I've had a surprising amount of interest in this and have decided to put it on Ebay.
Starting bid is 99p, no reserve...

Girlfriend has said it has to go and I'm too slow at sorting it out.
Of course phone or PM if you want any photos or info. 07977 155 079

Hi Steve - what Pug engine you gonna use?......I'm assuming your going for a transverse (east west) installation also using the pug gear box?......its about time someone did it to a fug, and I'm quite sure with your current work that you have the know-how and the confidence to do it properly :D

I have previously built several Peugeot GTI-6 race cars, and I think the 2.0 4-pot leans backwards by about 10 to 20 degrees, with the inlet facing forward......is this the same as your pug motor?

Hello Knighty,

I'm going to use an MI16 engine - It's almost identical to the 1.9L engine in most 80's and 90's pugs, but with the 16 valve head. Peugeot used it in there 405 MI16s and Citroen in there BX GTI16V's.
They are indeed an East West 4 pot with wet liners. In standard trim they are 160BHP, though I've lowered the compression with a spacer between the head and the block ready for supercharging.
I've run it for about a year like this - without the supercharger and it's been fine. The supercharger will be a project for later when the car is going.

I'm going to use the engine, gearbox, driveshafts, struts, lower arms, steering rack (though locking it) and probably the front subframe.
I think main hassles will be the springs at the top of the struts looking crap and gear linkages.
It will move the rear wheels nearly a foot backwards, but the engine will then be just in front of the wheels, not behind, so I think the weight balance should be nice.

btw the engine leans back 30 degrees...
The specs say the engine is 135Kg with flywheel (I measured 180 with gearbox)
I know it's on the lardy side but it's 160BHP without trying and plenty more with some boost :o)

Steve
