smart!......I notice you heve given it a lick of paint, looks much better!......did you see my reply to your other thread?

http://forums.fugitives.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=709

not the first time its been off-road!

how comes your exhaust is flaming?......think you might be running a bit rich there!........also, I have a 1.5 alfa boxer, which is very similar to your 1.7.......when I bought it, it had a very similar exhaust to yours, with a pair of cherry bombs pointing upwards......in short it was terrible, no back pressure and WAY to loud......it didnt do anything untill about 3000rpm, and it drank fuel - badly.

I have since made a new set of pipes and used a pair of harley davidson silencers, now drives like a dream, still plenty of noise from the pair of twin 36's......just thought you might like to know!.......are those silencers straight through? or do they have some wadding/mesh, so you can't see all the way through them?.......if you have the latter, I think you will be ok.

so are you gonna come to the stoneleigh show in may/June 2008?

ps - by the way, your 1.7 engine on twin 40's is the 118bhp spec, I can see its post 86 as it has the hydraulic heads.......probably over 120bhp with that exhaust........I have a 1.7 waiting to be installed......oooooh - cant wait :D .........bloody fantastic little motors

the cans only have a basic silencer in them so i am looking into doing something else at some point.
whats this show then ?
and i think this is a different buggy to the one you know of as i had an email off some bloke telling me he built it and then streatched it about 12 years ago when it wasnt very old due to accident damage.

Mine blows a little fire on occasion, which is never a bad thing, unless it's burning the valves out that is! I wanted a flame kit on mine, but my mate that I built it with pointed out that maybe I should grow up! :( I really don't agree,I'm only 40,what would possibly be childish in me wanting one  Don't care,I'm fitting on now. That said if that's not a flame kit on yours, which I think it is really ;) a little tune up might help :D

it is what happens when you land hard and the dizzy jumps round a bit .... did look pretty cool though :D

squirrel - November 14, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
does anyone know where the engine number is on these alfa engines as i want to retime it and so i know for getting bits.

squirrel - November 14, 2007 07:05 PM (GMT)
ok then i have found the engine number and its a 307-37 so i think that makes it a 1990-93 1.7 110bhp. but it started off as an injection one i think by that number( it now runs the webers). if anyone can correct me or tell me more that would be great.

Well I know the one I have (literally) sitting about is a 305.50 so a quick google on "305.50" and "alfa engine" in google gives :

very interesting the alfa info,a few years ago at newark kit car show there was a ferrari replica, dino i think, running an alfa 33 16 valve engine on twin 44idf webers, the inlet manifolds were a commercially avaliable part, really sounded good,i know paul has a spare one, hmmmmmmmm?.

Paul - December 16, 2007 10:08 AM (GMT)

Fugieian : Still got the Afla lump if you want it.

It needs to go as I need the space in the new "Casa Del Fugitivo" (garage) - that's been the main project recently, now gives me somewhere waterproof to work on the Fug.
