I think Tigger has used aluminium Porsche 944 arms on his fug-2, aparrently a few inches wider too........cant say I have heard 911 arms being used, but thts not to say it wont work

They 'could' fit but the chassis / torsion housing would need serious modding. The problem is the pick up's for the spring plate, they are in completly the wrong place... :(
Your best bet is 924/944 there is direct parentage back to the independant IRS of the 1302/1303 Beetle..so they bolt striaght on. Mine are the 944 S2 ones which are drop forged aluminium with the 4 pot brembo brakes, which also widen the track by 6 inches overall hence if you see a proper 944 S2 it has blown rear arches B)
I can report that you can use the 26mm dia torsion bar, spring plate (which is adjustable from the factory) and the cover plate with simple modding. Buy an after market urthane inner bush set to swop for the 944 ones and you are away...Which year or model is up to you depending on the brake set up you want???

Thanks tigger. I am sorry but now my fug is finished my mind is wandering onto new things to do. front vented brakes better rear, lower profile larger tyres / wheels, better box and scooby engine. I am starting to research what i need for a winter re design. any ideas welcome. Or chuck it all in for a Audi V8 engine and box in an F33 ( if i could find one)

Mine has been on the road 2 years now, but every winter there is 'room for improvement' :D
I know what Knighty is saying about mid mounting, but the F33 came from the Fugitive and it looks great, it would take work but with a audi 4.2 V8 and box .....oh yes please B)
