Title: V8 adaptor plate
Description: Think it needs one

My Fug goes well with the 2ltr beta engine, truthfully it's got more power than it needs. Thing is now I've seen Mattd Fug all finished I'm so impressed with the look of that engine I'm going to put one in mine. Just wondered if anyone had an adaptor kit before I go to Kennedy engineering, I'm in no real hurry, won't do it till the winter.

I have an adapter plate for a v8 it came with my car. it is cast but did not come with a fly wheel. I am not sure if it should have. any way get in touch if you still need it.

Do you know , I really don't know, I'm assuming it uses a beetle flywheel on the Rover engine. I have an adaptor plate for my Lancia engine, which uses Beetle starter, clutch etc, so I guess it must work that way. Hopefully Mattd will post an answer Hint, Hint ;) Assuming other bits are easily obtainable, I'd just need a price and a location. If your miles away I'm happy to do an Ebay / Paypay type deal. Thanks for answering.

100 bob, my adaptor plate uses the v8 flywheel with v8 starter. The thrust bearing is made to fit on the input shaft to get the spacing right. The clutch i am using is a h/d ford pinto. It appears at some point that my gearbox has been modded with a ford input shaft. I hope this helps. If for any reason my engine has to come out i will get some pics to show you. If you need any more info just let me know.

Emm, I've been down this road before, as they say. I'm down in Clacton, and we really ain't lucky in the way of engineers down here. Reckon it'd be something which will probably end in driving miles or doing tons of research, I'm not prepared to do. Do you know who can make what I'd need if I bought a plate alone? Or Steve can you shed anymore light on things. I'd like to go the Rover V8 route, I feel it's real value regards to power per pound spent.

if the adaptor plate was big enough for the v8 flywheel to fit inside like mine does i cant see why you cant just modify the thrust bearing with a spacer and still use the vw clutch ( an uprated one of course). You would have to have the flywheel re drilled to fit the clutch and pressure plate. You would also need some sort of bushing to make the input shaft fit the spigot bearing nicely.

steve, have you got any photos of said adaptor plate?

Thank-you, I shall email them and hope their English is better than my German  I've emailed Kennedy Engineering and I'm waiting for a price, from them. Your price of 375euros I can live with though and postage won't be as bad. I shall see what happens, there's no rush as I won't do it till the winter.
