Jacko - take a look
here , auction on ebay for a Sandrail - think from the title he'll swop for a bike ;-)
It doesn't look like a UVA to me, so check carefully what it's registered as. If is registered as a VW Beetle run away!

Paul, if that sandrail on ebay has an mot and is a beetle on the v5, whats the problem? is it if you have a prang or get pulled over?

The main problem is with the new mots most stations wont mot it because it isnt a beetle and hasnt been correctly registerd which usually means sva though sometimes if you can prove how long it has been on the road you can get it registerd without though that doesnt happen very often

Mostly as Jacko says : MOT - Getting tighter on what they check all the time. In theory they should refuse to MOT you if you turn up in a Fugitive and the log book states VW Beetle. If it gets to the stage where enough garages get this tough then you'd have to look at SVA'ing it - not impossible but not fun.
Possible, but less likely, issues could occur with insurance and other formalities. I wouldn't really expect any of the main kit car insurers to really have an issue with this.
I think in the future some people are going to have a few problems with these sort of registrations - hence I got mine tidied up by the DVLA when they did an amnesty as they brought in the SVA test (took 6 months till someone sensible at Swanse sorted it though - the local Vehicle Registration Office repeatedly lost everything!)
I'm personally surprised how much the one registered as a Beetle is going for on Ebay - Limo Fug is better bet in my opinion.

limo fug gets my money over incorrect registration especially as it has an alfa lump
