Description: Fuel Pumps

Here now I tell my sorry tale and take heed ;)

Fuel pump starts to become intermitant, kick it and it works. So I buy a new one off ebay cheap. Exact same unit except for the last 3 digits on the code, fine! I fit it on Sunday and decide that with a break in the weather I'll take it for a spin last night (Monday). The Fug makes sure it gets far enough away from the house, cough, cough and breaks down :o
Thankfully being out in the sticks a little I'm able to coast into a layby well off the road. By now it's getting dark and I've no phone, no torch and oh yeah it starts to rain....After about 30 minutes of wiggling wires and checking fuses etc I 'happen' across the dodgy earth, that was almost certainly 'always' there. Quick fix with a stone to bang the terminals together and away she goes. By now I'm wet, the inside of the Fug is wetter but I still need to test this thing so on I plod. After about 5 miles its very apparent that my new pump is not the same rating as the original as the power is well down to normal.....

....so tomorrow I'm putting the orginal one back in while the fug dries out :ph43r:

Hi Tigger,

Hopefully you'll be back up to speed soon!

It's not a Pacet Posi-Flow by any chance?

If it is I know a man who might be interested in it even if it's the lower fuel rate. He was impressed enough when helping fit mine to want to stick one in his Westie - reckons it's a lot quieter than the old cube Facets.

Cheers

Paul.

We use to have a VW piston with a exhaust valve welded into the crown (common thing with aircooled Vdubs) anyhow it was mounted on a plith and was handed out to 'cock up of the month'.....well I would certainly be holding that trophy now :D

Paul,
Sorry its a Bosch injection pump
