Title: Q PLATES AND FOG LIGHTS

jacko - December 14, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
Was talking to my mot tester last week and asked him to confirm that i didn't need fogs on my Fug with it having a Q plate, he looked it up and said it didn't need them as long as it was registered before 1986, as mine was registered in 1990 it looks like i will have to keep one on the back  . But worth noting as i suspect other issues regarding Q plates may pop up . I always thought a Q meant you only had to satisfy to 1977 regs ??

Had another interesting conversation with my mot tester last week he stated that fog lights if fitted singularly had to be fitted off centre to the right as you look at the rear of the car but i have noticed on a couple of newish cars namely new minis and peugeot 206s that hey have a central fog light any body else have any info on this?

The inspection of rear fog lamps is confined to the one rear fog lamp which is required to be fitted to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980.
Straight out the MoT legislating, that's what it says, not by memory or opinion, just a direct copy of it.
