Stoneleigh 2009 anyone ??
Do you think we can top one fugutive per day(two total!!) over the weekend this year :ph43r:
Paul,
Are we aiming to have a plot again?
mattd - January 9, 2009 01:27 PM (GMT)
well im up for going up for the weekend. Just got a caravelle t4 we can sleep in. Will trailer the fug there.
Knighty - January 9, 2009 02:25 PM (GMT)
well I would love to, my only beefs are the 3hr journey and the gamble on weather.......the last two events it has pi55ed down........have we considered meeting up at a VW related show perhaps.......stonor park?.........I must admit I find the kit-car scene a tad frustrating, enough 7's, GT40's and AC cobras to make you puke.
whereas I'm quite fond of all the aircooled stuff, as I grew up with it.........just an idea, thats all.
mattd - January 9, 2009 04:27 PM (GMT)
Im up for anything really didn't do any shows last year really, wanna do something this year though. Be good to met up though especially if we can gather a few fugs on the day/weekend.
Tigger - January 9, 2009 05:18 PM (GMT)
Knighty
I guess its my fault for missing you all the year before at Stoneleigh and I am completly on your wave length, but don't you just want to educate all those fake snakes and seven's :D
Knighty - January 13, 2009 02:35 PM (GMT)
no worries dude, I know you were very ill in hospital at the time :( .......I just find the VW scene far more interesting and nostalgic, as I grew up obsessed with air cooled stuff...... the UK kit car scene is a bit too obsessed with 7's cobras and GT40's for my liking........I also think the kit car scene is just not interested in fugitives, whereas at a VW show people are really into the buggy scene and I think us fugitive owners are far better recieved.......just my 2-pence worth
Tigger - January 13, 2009 05:53 PM (GMT)
Ok, no worries your two pennth is duely noted ;)
I shall probably go if the weather is kind as its a good shake down for the car.
Detling is too soon, Stonar is on my doorstep and we can 'attempt' it again, worthy of note though the mobile reception is very bad there.
Wot about one of the 'Run wot you brun' VW meets at Santa Pod...they are always worth a laugh?
Jimbo - January 15, 2009 11:44 AM (GMT)
It may be completely unachievable but I am aiming to have mine ready for Stoneleigh... if I do manage the miracle it would be good to try and make it some of the way in convoy......
jacko - January 15, 2009 06:11 PM (GMT)
Yea me too id love to be moted and have enought trust to drive down to stonleigh :D just have to see how time goes as am very busy at the moment which isnt a complaint as i know im very lucky in the current economic climate but i just want to play
Tigger - January 15, 2009 09:42 PM (GMT)
What do you reckon Paul, worth booking a plot?
Paul - January 15, 2009 10:37 PM (GMT)
Hi All,
The Stoneleigh show booking stuff arrived over the XMAS period - I'll post a bit more another night, but some quick basics.
2009 Stoneleigh is Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th May. I'll be going!
By default we get the same club area (59M). It's not bad, near to one of the bars and to the cheap hostel accommodation for those that don't want to camp. It's also near the "For Sale" barns so quite a lot of people pass near.
The evening entertainment leaves a bit to be desired, so if a few of us are staying overnight on the Sunday I think crates of beer/BBQ may be in order!
Happy to organise meeting up to travel up nearer the time.
Cheers
Paul.
p.s. Will chat to Knighty about Stonor soon and see who's up for that as well. Not one I know much about.
Tigger - January 17, 2009 11:22 AM (GMT)
Stonor is a good show, especially if the weather is good, excellent chilled atmosphere. But not lowered 'anything' friendly...they park you in a rough pasture field on the side of a hill :( and meeting up will be a problem because phone reception is rubbish...funny 'terrorising' the middle class of Henley on Thames though :D
Thats the only reason Stoneleigh is good, because we have a central point to meet up...the 59M stand B)
I still think we could meet up somewhere central one weekend afternoon...I'll give it some thought...how do we reckon on the 'map' of fug owners?
Knighty - January 18, 2009 03:04 PM (GMT)
if theres going to be a serious planned turn-out at stoneleigh, then I'm in!!......weather permitting B) B) B)
Tigger - January 20, 2009 09:41 PM (GMT)
Knighty - January 23, 2009 03:00 PM (GMT)
for those wanting to know the dates for stoneleigh kit car show its Sunday the 3rd to Monday the 4th May........dont do what Ian did in 2007 and turn up on Saturday, otherwise you will be a tad lonely!!!!!
Knighty - February 19, 2009 04:05 PM (GMT)
just out of curiosity who will be staying over night? and who is 1 day only? if so which day?.......I will be both days so will book a room in the on-site hostel, the on-site entertainment is tedious in my opinion so I'd reccomend you bring some bevvies.
Tigger - February 19, 2009 05:01 PM (GMT)
Probably one day and probably the Sunday...but I'll be interested in knowing more about the rooms, have you any info Knighty?
Paul - February 19, 2009 11:32 PM (GMT)
We'll probably stay overnight.
Tigger : The hostel details are here -
http://www.stoneleighparklodge.com/blackdo...llage/index.aspWas about £28 a room last time. Each room had 2 singles in.
Cheers
Paul.
Knighty - February 20, 2009 11:42 AM (GMT)
just booked mine, cost is now £30.......its just basic hoStel accomodation, 1 or 2 beds, with a sink and cupboard, and a lav down the hall way........it was a godsend in 2007 as it pissed down over night........be sure to ask for the hoStel accomodation, as the phone number takes you through to the hoTel and thats always fully booked!
Knighty - March 22, 2009 12:36 AM (GMT)
I thought I'd just say this.....its about 5 weeks till stoneleigh........so get your arses moving :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Keebs67 - March 29, 2009 09:33 PM (GMT)
Not sure I can attendend this one as Ive already booked for Plymfest at the end of May...whats the score with just turning up for the day? (apart from the lack of beer  )
Tigger - March 29, 2009 09:48 PM (GMT)
I'm only going up for the day so if you want to go up in convoy.......
caloun - March 30, 2009 07:31 PM (GMT)
Won't be going car in bits and too much work and DIY stuff to do. :(
It was booked in with a friend who appear lost interest.
So I will have to trailer back and put it back together myself probably June or July at the earliest.
:(
Have a good one hope it stays sunny for you B)

Sounds like a plan...Ill let you know nearer the time if Im definatly going :D
MrMunster - April 25, 2009 11:49 PM (GMT)
Well I'll be going on the sunday, in a dull(ish) car  Mainly to try to replace stuff that melted last year when my flat burnt down!!!! :(
Will swing by the stand and say hello for sure ;)
See you there
Paul - April 26, 2009 11:08 AM (GMT)
I'm now going on the Sunday during the day only as I need to be elsewhere on Monday.
I think Knighty's sitting this one out.
If anyone else is going on the Sunday drop me a PM or mail and we can try and meet up.
If anyone is definitely going in a non kit car and wants to use the spare club pass I have let me know. It gets one person in a car in.
Cheers
Paul.

Tigger - April 27, 2009 08:35 PM (GMT)
I've broken mine after a track day last Friday...but if enough are going and the weather is dry I will make the effort?
Knighty - April 28, 2009 09:38 AM (GMT)
sorry to hear that tigger - what bit did you break?
Tigger - April 29, 2009 07:31 PM (GMT)
Track day was brill, loads of fun no problems. I think at least one Porsche owner will be taking his car back and trading it against something substainally quicker
Hit a pot hole on one of Berkshires (very) badly maintained roads and ended up in a ditch coming home, bent my new set up on one side.... <_< was only going steady as I was trying to get home on the vapours I had left in the tank, must of just hit it right as the fug just took off....side ways :(
Luckily a couple of people stopped and we pulled it out
Altough I've stripped it and put the bits into the machine shop unless I get them back tomorrow it seems unlikely I will make it Sunday...if that is the case I hope you have a great w/e and it is dry for you B)
Knighty - April 29, 2009 08:32 PM (GMT)
Hi Tigger - I'm very sorry to hear about your ditch visit, but hey, atleast you walked away from it........metal fixes quicker than bone!!!.....since the big freeze, there are pot-holes bloody everywhere round here - very annoying, and easily missed.......sounds like the fug flew at the track day.......what track????
Chris - April 30, 2009 02:10 PM (GMT)
Hi Tigger,
sorry to hear about the pot hole mate,
Hope all is up and running soon.

hey everyone, not been on here for a while. Tried to buy a fugitive last year but couldnt find anything worth buying. Was at Stoneleigh all weekend and had really hoped to see a fugitive and have a chat, kept checking your stand but nothing all weekend :( I was along in the Hensen that im in the process of completely restoring. (was the one in Complete kitcar last month) Once im finished the Hensen ill start the hunt for a fugitive again. Are there any members around scotland? wouldnt mint seeing one in the flesh. cheers.
caloun - May 5, 2009 08:57 PM (GMT)
pretty poor value not that many exhibitors and some over priced products
Ariel atom clones seem to be the in thing?
IVA will kill off some stuff I am sure and things are going to get much harder for the restas european law tightens everything up.
Having said that there were some companies had some good ideas.
MrMunster - May 6, 2009 04:39 PM (GMT)
Yep, it was a pretty poor turnout on the fug front!!! and I only managed to get half of my shopping list too!!
Never mind it was nice to meet Paul and have a day out (thanks for the pass Paul :D ) and I did go to bed dreaming about what the Fug stand could have looked like............If there had been a Fug to go on the stand!! ;)
Maybe next year then.
