Title: Ground clearance
silv - March 17, 2009 04:45 PM (GMT)
Hi chaps.
Getting around to sorting the Fug with its R1 engine at last. Latest plan is to install the engine behind the passenger seat (it's a Fug4.) I've just tacked in place a sierra rear diff and trailing arm suspension and need to ask a bit of advice on ground clearance. If I'm going for the "low rider" look, what would you guys recommend for ground clearance to the chassis rail. I'm thinking 6" at the rear and 5" at the front. Opinions?

I will measure mine, but sounds about right. Mine maybe a bit lower at the front.

Hi Silv - you may be pushing your luck going that low.......at the rear you want about 8 to 10 inches........and about 6-8 inches at the front.........there are too many speed humps about nowdays, going too low you will hit one hard oneday and you will hurt something, either you or the car or engine

Mine is 4 at the rear and 3 at the front...no problems and I live down a dirt track!
Biggest problem is clearance for your exhaust and the anti roll bars front mostly but rear as well if you fit one

I guess the answer is to make it fully adjustable and then see what happens. Thanks for your input chaps.
