Title: New Engine

Le Mans Man - May 31, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
Ok so not everybody will care about this but its an open forum so what the hell...

I have finally taken the plunge and stuffed a proper engine up the jacksie of my Fug!!! Ok so I'd better explain what I mean by proper engine...its still a VW and its is still aircooled but I spanked down a load of money on a Rentec remanufactured unit, 1641cc high lift cam etc:- also stuck a big Webber carb on the top of it.

Seems a lot smoother than previous motors I've had hanging off the back, most of them didn't even get an oil change before being attached to the Fug! The only pain in the arse is that I am having to drive it, trying to do the 500 miles running in period in 2 weeks is hard work, about half way there now with 7 days before the oil change and abandonment of rev limits - should be swift!

Even took if off road yesterday, which was probably not the brightest idea I have ever had - its got about 4 inches of ground clearance at the front - my lower sway away now has a somewhat bent screw thread - oops!

cheers! Adrian

Well I think we need a new picture then ...........

To busy driving it to take photo's - I am sure there will be some from Le Mans in a couple of weeks though - ferry next Sunday night for 8 days - yeehah! come to that ferry this saturday night for 24 hours, test day this year is only 2 weeks before the start of the race - arseing P&O didn't have enough space for my Fireblade and a couple of SV650's so 3 of us will be hacking down on Sunday morning in my Astra - only 2 seats in the Fug afterall!!! Free cabins and only £49 return though so P&O cannot really be the root of all evil can they!?!

Will get some photo's soon.

cheers! Adrian.

Just the one Weber ...

Le Mans Man - June 3, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
Yeah just the one weber - might add another one in due course, bit worried though bloke that works in my local german & swedish says that he has the same set up in the back of his Beetle - gets about 12MPG when he is going fo it...so I can only assume my fuel bills will be rising!

cheers! Adrian.

Of course they will rise - but so will your smile quotient.

At best, I get 30mpg @ 60mph (on motorway) with my two lovely
34 ITC's burbling away in the rear. Thrashing around :ph43r: I don't
bother counting as I'm usually having too much fun.
