Title: My new (old) Fugitive 2

gtmdriver - May 21, 2009 09:35 AM (GMT)
Well I've made an attempt to regain some of my credibility by buying another kit car.
As a writer for Complete Kitcar Magazine I felt a bit dishonest not actually owning a kit temporarily.
I cured that by buying this yesterday.

It won't be worked on for a while, I'm re-building a Moto Guzzi California, but at least I now own a kit again so I can look poeple in the eye once more.

It's a UVA Fugitive 2 with a 1600 engine, IRS rear end and many good bits.

Very nice and all the basis for a good Fug. We must have similar taste, I thought the California was stunning, there was one up the road from us when all I had was a Garelli tiger cross.

Nice one! So we may get a mention in the mag then! Will be doing a feature on it?

There's a section in the magazine called 'Our Cars' and they'll feature my collection of the car first then, when I actually get round to the rebuild, they'll have regular progress reports.

By the way, have you got a price for the body panels yet or thought about my offer to mould them for the club?

Nice one, looks complete enough. Hope your rebuild goes more swiftly than mine :)

Glad to hear your mag will give the new toy some coverage too, I was reading a different one and they were quite adamant that old kit cars were of no interest to their readers!!! :o mind you some of their writers seemed to know slightly less than nothing anyway!! needless to say I won't waste my time on that one again.. :D

Keep us updated and good luck when you get started

I don't normally push the magazine in club forums but I'll reply to this one as it's relevant.

Ian, the editor has a small feature in the magazine at the moment where he is actually trying to locate examples of older, rarer or small volume production kit cars.

Well your forgiven for pushing your Mag, no harm in it is there!! Your Ed sounds like a sensible bloke as I'm sure there is enough interest to make something of it.

You could feature mine except it's not quite finished yet  On that subject if you do end up using Devon Dave's moulds and knock up some panels, I badly need a bonnet!!

In the mean time I hope you finish your Guzzi soon and can start on the Fug :D

I'm still waiting for Devon Dave to get back to me. I've PM'd him but no reply as yet.
