A VW T25 Caravelle. Big into vw's. Pictures of fug soon.
100bob - June 8, 2009 07:32 PM (GMT)
Nothing too impressive on my side, I've got the Fug, a Volvo v70 for a kick about, a People carrier and a 4x4. I shall buy a Nobel m12 shortly, been looking and I think that's what I want, unfortunately can't justify the amount more an m12r costs. Still like my V8's and would love something Busa engined, don't think I'll ever grow up. Seriously thought about getting a KTM duke for the summer, but think I'm more or less over bikes now. It's us old folk that tend to suffer the worst in accidents, and as much as I had years of luck I'm sure I'm not exempt from getting hurt.
MrMunster - June 8, 2009 09:56 PM (GMT)

other hobbies include building media pc's and overclocking.
Jimbo - September 11, 2009 11:57 AM (GMT)
Not got as many as I used to have, but we're not doing too badly!
Currently my daily driver is a Mondeo TDCi - yes I actually bought one of these for myself but I love it... 120,000 miles in 3 years :o (now total 156,000  ) and it still goes like a train! Best part is every service is basically filters and oil!!! Had to have one dual mass flywheel at 140k though, shame as the original clutch was still going strong but I replaced it anyway.......
We also have a manual Mitsubishi FTO GPX - lots of fun, 2ltr V6 8,200rpm redline and 200bhp... :D
There's the Mk 2 GP beach buggy recently refinished and the Fug 4 being rebuilt - cannot wait until that's done :D especially when I look out of the window today and see the sunshine!!
Bikewise I have a supermoto XR400R, supermoto XT600 and an SV650.... though I have only had time to do about 500 miles on any of them this year. We've been a bit busy with the new business we started which is why the Fug is taking so long.
100bob - September 14, 2009 10:07 AM (GMT)
I want to get a supermoto, was thinking KTM duke type stuff. Haven't had a bike for a few years so wanted to start on something not too powerful but still fun. Don't think I want a fast sports bike again, but don't think I've got to the cruiser stage yet. Any experiences to give me a few valid options would be appreciated.
Le Mans Man - September 18, 2009 09:15 PM (GMT)
Bob, I think I am qualified to talk about this subject given the job I do on a daily basis - service manager in a Yamaha dealer and the big singles I have owned - couple of Yamaha XT600e's, a CCM 604e, a Yamaha XT660X - ridden loads of others and now use a Honda XR250 for everyday and looking at racing enduro on it.
KTM Dukes are fab - can be a lot of fun, can be a lot of heartache too - they are quite labour intensive with a service schedule to rival an F1 car! Also build quality is patchy - some very good ones rolled off the production line as did some dogs. With new ones the build quality is not an issue.
You thinking new or used & what budget?
Off the cuff advice...Suzuki DRZ400 Supermoto - the proper one with USD forks - good bike and fairly cheap. Yamaha XT660X - don't bother, way to heavy and way to slow the only bike I have regretted buying. Something converted from an enduro - Honda XR or Yamaha YZ or WR depends on the conversion and they do have service intervals quoted in time not mileage - can get frustrating!
If it was me looking at the moment I'd only really have one on my list - bear with me on this - its the CCM404DS - this has the Suzuki DRZ400e motor - bigger carb more umph - also should have supermoto and enduro wheels, its a Suzuki engine with WP suspension, talon hubs, excel rims, renthal bars etc:- so you can always get bits for it. Really its a two wheel Fug, you can bolt the enduro wheels on it and play in the mud or bung on the supermoto rims and go scrape the pegs...
Whatever you buy a great big lock and chain is essential.
Hope that helps - if you need someone to bounce ideas off then let me know.
cheers! Adrian.
100bob - September 19, 2009 05:30 PM (GMT)
Thanks Adrian,
DRZ 400 is one that I have ridden, truthfully couldn't fault it apart from the fact I would have liked a bit more power and a physically bigger bike, I realise that sounds like I've found a lot of fault, but not in the bike itself, it rode very well. Trouble is, I'm 6'4" and nearly 17stone, it kinda looked like a 125cc with me on it. I'm not likely at all to take it off road anywhere near enough to start changing wheels either, maybe ten years ago but not now. :(
Price wise, wasn't thinking new, something about 03 to 05, just old enough to have lost some inital value ready to make it a bargain. I shall tap in some of the other bikes you've mentioned and see what looks ideal.
Bob
100bob - September 27, 2009 08:18 PM (GMT)
Adrian,
Realise it's a bit different from what I said I was looking for, but I've just seen a Yamaha MT01, reckon that's exactly what I need. As you work at dealership I would massively appreciate your opinion, and How far out of Essex you are with respect to buying one. It was the look and sound that done it for me, made me remember how much I wanted a V max but never got round to getting one.
Thanks.........Bob
100bob - September 29, 2009 04:12 PM (GMT)
Ok, tried a Kawasaki Versys 650, like a refined supermoto, very nice to look at modest power, but a bit commuter to ride. So have today riden the Yamaha MT01. The power is pretty impressive, infact if I'm honest I'd say it was brutal, that said at 1700cc I guess it'd have to be. So I was sold on it, stunning looks, real grunt, nice and fun, even though it's a bit agricultural to ride. Thinking, yes I'm having one of these, took it down the dual carriageway, it then turned from being where's my cheque book to I'm so please I haven't bought this it's horrible. I know streetfighter style bikes are a bit open to eliments etc, but it'd barely keep up with the traffic if there was a cross-wind, yet could rip your arms out when there wasn't. Now I really don't know what I want.

Le Mans Man - September 29, 2009 09:19 PM (GMT)
Hi Bob, MT-01 is the marmite bike - now I love marmite but I cannot love the MT, impressive, outrageous, over priced and pretty ugly unless you spend a lot of money on it - but not a nice ride either way - Wouldn't really want one as a gift, depending on the year it might need recall work as well - there are safety recalls on throttle position sensors and rear suspension linkages on the early ones - any Yamaha dealer will do it free of charge if it needs it.
Another stone to through in the pond...how about an un faired Suzuki SV1000 - got all the grunt you could need, but quite comfortable - not as vibey as the MT and they are a few about at not very much money. Get rid of the standard tail tidy, get some loud cans, whack a small screen on with a radiator cover and you have a very nice looking little bike - as your a big bloke you might need heavier duty springs in the forks as standard ones weren't the best - did I mention I used to be a salesman in a Suzuki & Ducati dealer?
Speaking of the Italian brand - could try the 1000cc Multistrada - very ugly and with a seat made from wood but a great bike - done over a thousand miles on one a top riders machine - but expensive to service.
Cheers! Adrian.

Not sure what I want now, but there is a bike show at Copdock, Ipswich area tomorrow so I'm hoping to go and get some ideas. Have become interested in a Buell lightening long. Dealer doesn't have the new demos in yet though, wish I hadn't started this, have gone from a couple of grand fun to a new Buell in a couple of weeks. I can see this getting expensive :(
Keebs67 - October 13, 2009 08:17 AM (GMT)
