Title: Re-wire is starting to get there!

Just a quick update for those interested (Knighty ;) )

The wiring has started going in on the Fug. It's been aided heavily by the use of CBS's Wiring module which does speed things up considerably even if it's a touch on the dear side and has quite a few circuits that don't get used on the Fugs. Using new thinwall cable for most of it and relocating some stuff to ensure there's a lot less clutter.

Most of the charging/ignition/starting circuits are in - it turns over on the key but only tried briefly as the jump leads aren't up to the job of supplying starter current and the magic smoke is starting to escape from them.

Waiting on the terminal to go on the new starter cable and then we'll see if the engine is still a runner!

Soon be onto the pretty stuff - lights etc. Dunno what we did before the internet though - I learnt a lot about the workings of the latched dip/full beam solenoid used on the Beetle during a quiet day at work this week.

Radiator mount has been designed/mocked-up/drawn in CAD - I knew there was a reason for having a designer type around the house! Hopefully that'll be made up shortly as well.

Cheers All

Where are you getting all your stuff from?

Vehicle Wiring Products is excellent, though not especially cheap.

Yup some of it came from them.

A fair chunk of the thinwall came from http://www.autosparks.co.uk/ and the wiring module's from http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/

Other odds and ends along the way have also come from Ebay - particularly when it's just been one bit (e.g Dash warning lamp or starter terminal) that I needed as the P&P tends to work out cheaper than using the above suppliers.

Only popped back to the computer to see how to get at the internals of the indicator stalk - think I've got that sussed now as well.
