I keep looking at my front number plate and wondering do I actually need to have it???........I seem to remember being told that you can run just the rear plate only.......does anyone know whats allowed???
Knighty,
Pretty certain you need one.
Have been looking at this sort of stuff a bit for mine, there is a fair bit of info on www.craigsplates.com
The main bits I found for mine:
The stick on bonnet plates are not fully legal.
There is no minimum size plate, just rules around font size and spacing. As my reg has several 1's in it I can run smaller front and rear plates.
You defo need both plates
Stick on plates are only legal on pre 73 cars
Size of plate differs on age also...older the car the smaller you can legally get away with, both letter and overall size
thanks guys - that was a short investigation!!!
Not wanting to poke my nose in again, but knighty you do actually have a point. When I was looking for the mudguard stuff I found you can tecnically register a Fug as a quad, those little buggy things are! Yes I know it isn't as do all of you, but it does fit the criteria. Thus meaning "you wouldn't need a front plate" Cheapest plates is the best and needless to say the cheapest. I don't manufacture plates myself anymore as I'm not registered to do them, and I only used to make show plates for a few selected people anyway, I didn't bother registering. The law surrounding making them (although most internet based companies break it on a daily basis) I wasn't prepared to. I make some of my own, including my Fug but I won't risk making my private plates due to chance, although remote of getting the reg being revoked. I bought 80 BSY for the fug so it would look like BOBSY, but think the Fug looks best with square plates, I put it on another car in the end, don't want to sell it, it actually looks pretty cool.
